The Swifties are at it again! The release of Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album, “The Torturned Poets Department,” has the music world buzzing – and not always in a good way.

While professional critics have offered mixed reviews, one psychiatrist and self-proclaimed Swiftie is finding herself in hot water after daring to share her own critical take on the album.

In a viral TikTok video, Dr. Claire (@drclaireo) revealed that she’s been “canceled” by fellow Taylor fans for her honest assessment of the new music. “I’m a psychiatrist and I’m currently being canceled by the Swifties for making a post criticizing the most recent album,” she said.

According to Dr. Claire, the backlash she received exemplifies the concerning trend of “parasocial relationships” – the one-sided bond that can form between celebrities and their devoted fans.

“The amount of people who are commenting like they’re intimate friends with her, know what goes through her head, [and] are there with her writing her songs is alarming to me,” the doctor explained. “Maybe we do understand some things about her through her music and through what she posts and how she communicates to her fans, but we do not know her.”

Many Swifties in the comments agreed that the fandom often takes things too far, with one writing: “As a Swiftie, I have to say a lot of them need to go touch some grass.” Another fan admitted, “I’ve been a fan since ’06, and I was told by a Swifty that not liking the new album means I lack empathy like WHAT?!?!?”

While the Swifties are known for their fierce loyalty, this incident highlights the need for more open, nuanced discussion around Taylor’s art. After all, as one commenter aptly put it, “how do you know what she meant..??”

The moral of the story? You can love Taylor Swift without letting that love blind you. Maybe it’s time for some Swifties to take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember that even their idol is human.
