About this effect
“Hotel Lobby (Unc & Phew)” by Quavo and Takeoff dropped on May 20, 2022, as the lead single from their joint album Only Built for Infinity Links. A month later the duo performed it on A COLORS SHOW: two artists, one microphone hanging from the ceiling, and a bright orange backdrop. The performance became one of the most-watched in the series.
In September 2026 that clip turned into a full-blown AI trend on TikTok and X. Creators swap the duo for cats, best friends, couples, athletes, and movie characters, keeping every head nod, hand gesture, and mic handoff from the original. Quavo himself reposted the original performance as the trend took off.
You do not need CapCut templates or editing skills to join in. Upload one photo for each performer, and the AI turns them into your own version of the Hotel Lobby performance, synced to the original track and ready for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Post while the trend is still climbing and use the original sound so your video lands in the trend feed. Curious why some trends explode? Read what makes a dance trend go viral.
