These two get compared constantly because they sit at the top of the same category, and the honest answer is unsatisfying: neither wins outright. They are optimised for different things, and once you know which, the choice becomes obvious per shot.

Seedance is widely reported as the strongest in the category for natural human movement, and it accepts many reference files in a single prompt, which is what makes character consistency hold across a clip.

Kling is not weak here. It is specifically strong on physics — how things fall, swing, and collide — which is a different problem from how a body moves.

Resolution and speed

Kling 3.0 renders up to 4K at 60fps and is the faster of the two. For anything going to a large screen, or any workflow where you iterate a dozen times before you are happy, that combination compounds.

For short-form vertical video, this advantage largely evaporates. TikTok and Reels re-encode aggressively; 4K source material does not survive as 4K.

Duration

Seedance handles longer single-pass generations — around 30 seconds, with a large number of reference inputs. Kling also exceeds 30 seconds in one pass.

Worth knowing regardless of model: longer clips drift more, because errors accumulate across generated chunks. A 30-second clip is not simply three 10-second clips of equal quality.

Cost

Kling has been the cheaper entry point, with free daily credits and a low monthly tier. Seedance credits roll over, which favours heavy irregular use over light steady use.

Through API providers, mid-2026 figures put Seedance roughly at $0.05–0.15 per second and Kling around $0.10 per second — close enough that cost should rarely decide the shot. Verify current pricing before planning around it; both have repriced within the year.

Which to use, by shot

  • A person dancing → Seedance. Human motion is the whole job.
  • A product hero shot → Kling. Resolution and finish carry it.
  • Character consistent across several clips → Seedance, using multiple references.
  • Anything with falling, splashing, or collision → Kling. Physics is its strength.
  • Fast iteration on a rough idea → Kling. Speed matters more than the last 5% of realism.
  • Vertical short-form for TikTok → Either. Platform compression erases the resolution gap.

The thing most comparisons miss

Most serious creators in 2026 run both and pick the right one per shot.

Framing this as a subscription decision is the actual mistake. These are tools with different strengths, not competitors where one must be eliminated. If your workflow lets you reach both without committing to two annual plans, that is strictly better than picking a side.
